This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hi, this is Gina and while I am a 15-year teacher, this is my first year at JMS. I am teaching 6th-grade social studies to an AMAZING group of students. They are eager to learn and are absorbing material like sponges. They make me proud.

I want to give my students access to headphones so I can vary the presentation of material to students and support the needs of my Auditory, SPED and English Language learners.

I have found EdPuzzle to be a great tool for these learners. With EdPuzzle, students watch a short video which pauses for students to answer questions about what they just heard. I can use any video from Youtube, or create my own. I edit the video to stop at strategic points and students must answer question - (multiple choice, true false, or open-ended).

Right now, when I assign an EdPuzzle, I have 24 students playing the EdPuzzle with sound on their chromebooks. While the sound is soft, it can be distracting for some students when they hear the video coming from a different chromebook. Utilizing headphones will eliminate this problem and allow students to be less distracted when working.
