Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with many scholars that come from low income families. We focus on educating and preparing our scholars for college. Most of them will be first generation college students. We are an urban school, meaning our neighborhood isn’t the fanciest. Our scholars come from all kinds of home struggles. What I love about them is that it is hard not to love them. They are kind, silly, tenacious, leaders, and smart. They can always put a smile on my face!

When learning a new language you must use and hear the target language as often as you can.

In order to build my scholar's listening and comprehension skills in Spanish, we do many listening activities in Spanish. In order for scholars to hear exactly what is being said and to hear clearly the sounds of word in Spanish they need headphones. Most of our headphones are broken which is why we need new ones. Most of our scholars are from low income homes, and at times struggle to purchase school supplies.
