I teach 7th grade Spanish for native speakers. What this means is my scholars already speak spanish. They write and read a little Spanish. My class is almost like an ELA class, but in Spanish. We focus on reading and writing in Spanish. I would like to provide my scholars with a Spanish classroom library. I want to use some of these books for guided reading with the class. Our school provided “Night” as the 7th grade native Spanish book for semester 1. It is a great book but it’s above grade level. They struggled a lot reading through it and it discouraged them. I’m hoping that by providing on grade level books, they will find a love for reading in Spanish.
