This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an extremely socioeconomically disadvantaged school. Over 99% of our students receive free school lunch and many of the students come to school lacking materials for them to succeed. My students are super hardworking and they strive to obtain success even given the obstacles that are they are dealt. They actively participate, enjoy hands-on learning, and each has personal goals that they’re working towards. These same kiddos know that they have to work hard in school to better their lives in the future.

My Project

My students come from a socioeconomically disadvantaged area and come to school with little more than the clothes on their backs. These same students crave success and strive to do their best daily.

In my class, students have the opportunities to use district-provided computers.

While every class has these computers, most students do not have headphones to use while online. These computers allow the students to do personalized learning at their level. With the help of the headphones, students will be able to focus and progress faster on their work. My students use the computer to help with their reading development, math skills, and typing abilities. My students are also creating google docs, digital projects, and research. Oftentimes, the noise from these programs can be loud and many of my students get distracted by the devices around them. If every child had the access to headphones, they’d progress faster!

Please help my students learn. I want to instill a love of learning in all my students. I feel that once students find that joy, they better destined for success.
