Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My new second grade students love to learn, and it's my job to keep it that way. My students range in age from 7-8 years old from all parts of the city - Harlem, Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island. Most of my students come from homes where poverty is a reality, and school is where they explore new ideas and people. They are sweet, loving, kind, and funny.
I have a wide range of students with multi-cultural and special education needs, where extra materials and visual aides are required for best learning.
Many of them excel at literacy and math skills, while others struggle. Some of my students are able to read above grade level, while others have trouble understanding academic vocabulary.
I come from the belief that all students deserve to have a fulfilling and effective education, and I'm excited to help them!
My Project
Thanks to generous past donations of technology like iPads and laptops, we almost have a full class set. As our students use these devices they wish they could use the sound on them, to help them read along or listen to music without disturbing the whole class.
We need a classroom set of headphones that are both sturdy and functional to help make our students learning more engaging.
Fifteen headphones will help our classroom utilize all the functions and sounds that our technology has to offer especially with read along and math applications which we are currently using without sound.
