My students show up every day wanting to be in school. They are pint-sized mathematicians and future leaders who sometimes face seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a level of determination that is awe-inspiring.
Many of my students and their families are relatively new to the USA and are hungry for success.
They deserve an excellent education, free from the limitations that exist due to their zip code and current fiscal policy.
The school I work in has a social justice focus and constantly partners with families and community leaders to meet the needs of its students and the neighborhoods they're from. We could use your help in helping meet the needs of its diverse student population.
We all know that one of the goals of education is to make sure that all students can grow and learn. In addition to mastering grade level content, three times per week my math students work in small groups to help remediate skills from prior grades. Some are practicing skills they struggled with in 4th grade, while others are practicing first and second grade skills.
When not working with a tutor, students work independently on computer based programs that are tailored to their individual needs, and need to hear the videos and examples on their electronic devices.
In order for this time to be successful they need headphones! These headphones will help students focus on their learning so that they can grow!
