This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help my students strengthen their reading skills! I currently teach 7th and 8th grade students. My students are placed within an intervention English Language Arts class called Read 180. They are placed in this class because they require additional support with their reading capabilities due to the fact that they are currently not reading at their grade level. The Read 180 program operates heavily on the use of technology which provides students with a new and interactive way of learning! I strive to be my students' biggest cheerleader by working with them to help them build confidence in not only their reading capabilities, but in themselves. it is very important that in order to help them build their confidence in Read 180 that they have higher quality materials to work with.

I am requesting funding to purchase better quality headphones, so that my students can utilize the Read 180 program to its fullest!

My Project

Reading ability plays a HUGE role in all aspects of life and I want to provide my students with every possible tool I can for them to improve their reading levels. Read 180 is a technologically driven program intended to provide students with support that assists them in reaching their lexile goals and ultimately helping them to reach grade level reading ability. The program offers tremendous support in the form of videos for visual learners and audio for auditory learners. Most Read 180 students fall into these two learning styles which is why higher quality headphones would greatly help support them in their reading endeavors.

These headphones would allow my students to use their time more effectively and support them in reaching their reading goals.

Currently, time is spent trying to find headphones or I am repairing headphones utilizing tape. Each of my class sections utilizes headphones for approximately 40 minutes each day. The headphones frequently break beyond repair and occasionally we do not have enough headphones for students to use. These newer and higher quality headphones would make a world of difference to my kids. Please help out in any way that you can.
