Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What is it like to go to school without a full belly or clean clothes or even completed homework? Ask any of my third graders. These are some of the challenges they face before they even enter my classroom. My students are members of a large inner-city school with over 600 students. They come from high poverty environments but come to school eager to learn.
Creating a safe welcoming learning environment is critical to the success of my little learners.
I want to make sure that my students have every opportunity to meet the goals that they set for themselves. I also want them to have a welcoming place that encourages them to grow and learn each and every day.
My Project
All my third-grade students have access to a Chromebook. I want my students to become competent 21st-century learners. The use of headphones will maximize the technology that they are exposed to in the classroom and help them focus on their learning.
Headphones are an essential tool during our independent learning time.
Students will use the headphones daily during math and reading centers. They will be able to listen to individualized lessons and videos created for differentiation and student choice.
The headphones will take away many of the distractions that surround them in the classroom. They will also allow students to take full advantage of the learning that can occur with apps and programs available to them on Chromebooks.
