This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a Special Education teacher, my students need remediation in reading and math skills. The district supplies the computer programs for students to improve their basic core skills; however, the students lack headphones to properly utilize these resources. With donated headphones, the students could work independently on their reading and math skills using the district computer programs. My students are vibrant young adults who desperately need to improve their basic skills before entering the work force.

My Project

Headphones are needed for my special education students to properly utilize the reading and math computer programs supplied by the district. These programs are one-on-one tutoring programs that involve properly listening to the programs. The headphones are vital for the students' success. By improving their basic reading and math skills, the students will improve academically and be better prepared for entering the job force. Better reading and math skills also means higher self-esteem for our students. In this era of Covid, I would prefer that the students do not have to share headphones.
