Mrs. Price from Cleveland OH is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students new headphones to use with their devices and listen to their individually assigned lessons without disturbing others or being disturbed themselves.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I have been employed as an educator since 1998. Currently, I am the science teacher for grades 6 - 8. Despite the struggles and challenges of teaching in a large, urban district, my goal is to instill a love and appreciation of learning to all of my students and provide them with opportunities to create and learn 21st-Century science skills.
Many of my students have access to technology only at the local library.
At the library, they have access to computers and headphones. At school, the headphones are scarce. The students rarely have their own headphones. My students are looking forward to being as independent as possible. Also, because most of the assignments are online due to the pandemic, new headphones will help!
Due to the lack of funding for technology in our educational system, often great classroom projects never come to fruition and now students can't listen to their passages without disturbing others. Imagine 3 or 4 different videos or passages being played aloud without headphones. Please consider supporting my students and making a difference through technology education. Thank you for viewing my project.
This project will replace our non-functioning headphones. Students have difficulty with different sites due to headphones that do not work. They can't effectively listen to their individual lessons without disturbing others.
Currently, our headphones are about 80% nonfunctional, and these same headphones have been used by over 300 students for the past four years.
It's difficult for students to listen to their individually assigned lessons when they cannot hear out of the headphones. This project will change the understanding of the material. Headphones are necessary for the overall functionality of the class, and I know this will excite and engage my students.
