Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am teaching third grade students who come from various backgrounds. A majority of my students do not speak English as their first language and were not born in the United States. However, each student works extremely hard to learn English and loves to learn.
As a class, we explore what it means to be a learner in our community and communities around the world and how we can apply that exploration to everyday life.
Students explore various types of literature, including historical fiction texts, fairy tales, non-fiction informational texts, fables, Pourquoi tales, and many more.
Students also begin to become critical thinkers by exploring how these texts are constructed and why the writers are writing them. We also develop critical thinking skills through our various math units about multiplication and division, area and perimeter, telling time, measurement, and data and fractions.
My Project
With our Chromebook to student ratio being one to one, students are now using Chromebooks more than ever. We are using Chromebooks to support math, reading, and social-emotional learning. Students are creating PowerPoints, digital books, and all sorts of different digital projects. Having all these digital interactive projects leaves students needing proper technology to support their learning.

With these headphones, students will not only be able to listen to academic videos, but also record themselves giving academic presentations.
One of our biggest projects in third grade is creating a research presentation on an animal and its adaptations. Having these headphones would allow students to create a digital audio book that teaches other students about the animal they researched.
