My Students

My students are between the ages of 4 and 5 years old. These children are experiencing school for the very first time in our Pre-Kindergarten program. Therefore, all of their experiences are brand new! Students this age are engaged in active learning activities that enrich skills related to social emotional, language, cognitive, mathematical and physical development.

Children in Pre-Kindergarten also require engagement in non-traditional activities to enrich their experiences each day!

The teachers try to move children into engagement with hands-on, interactive tools as much as possible.

Children in my class interact with each other on a personal level by engaging with materials in the classroom such as toys, literacy materials, and manipulatives. Our children learn from each other as much as they learn from the teacher as they continue to navigate their new world. My children are young but they experience the rigors of a structured curriculum and well balanced daily schedule each day.

My Project

In the season of winter many children often arrive to school lacking the clothing needed to keep them warm and comfortable. Having extra clothing at school will support a lack of items such as socks and T-shirts and encourages safety and a sense of well being for children.

The clothes children wear can affect the development of their independence and self-help skills.

As we work to help children develop socially and emotionally in preschool, we also work to provide opportunities and materials to expand their knowledge of common practices used for self-care at home such as brushing their teeth.
