My Students

We want to learn on the floor during story time, calendar, writing and reading lessons. However, it is so difficult when there is not a defined space for my students. They each need their own defined space, so they can focus in on the lesson and teaching.

I teach Kindergarteners (5 year olds) who are so excited to learn and be at school!

They are active little people who love to move! They also have difficulty understanding how their bodies fit into space. I teach at an elementary school in a suburban area in Michigan.

My Project

I've requested a classroom rug. The rug has a large tree with leaves on it. Each student will know to have a seat on a leaf. That way they will each have their own defined space and their space will be in a proper area to participate in all lessons.

By having a classroom rug in our classroom it will help these 5 year olds become more attentive to lessons.

They will have an understanding of where they should be sitting and how their bodies will have their own personal space. It will be used for years and years to come!
