My Students

We are a rural high school located close to the Virginia border in North Carolina. Our small school struggles to recruit and keep players on our athletic teams. Besides being "out in the country,” over 25% of our students have special needs and over 50% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We are not a large school and do not have many resources; however, the teachers and staff here have big hearts and we make do with grit, determination and a passion for academics and athletics. We love our students dearly and are committed to their success.

My Project

I am asking for USB mice so that my students can easily use the paintbrush and eraser tools in the digital editing software. Right now they have track pads on their school issued Chromebooks and it is very difficult to edit their photographs. Tripods for their cell phones will help my high school students take amazing photographs.

Over half of my students receive free and reduced-price lunch and do not have the supplies they need at home to complete their schoolwork.

In the art room we have tripods and extra mice they can use. However, we didn't have the opportunity to hand out supplies before the students were told they couldn't come back to school anymore. I am hoping this project can help them get the tools they need.
