This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences through art.With limited funding available, it is difficult to supply my little artists with the various supplies and resources needed to provide a healthy art experience.

Students this year will learn about various American artists, specifically Peter Max.

Students will use various colors of paint to "Maxify" their own creations!

My Project

My students enter my art room with hopes to escape difficulties in life. Some struggle academically, and it excites me to see their confidence and enthusiasm to discover artists and various artistic expression.Children search for inspiration everywhere, my goal is to expose every student to various outlets and expressions in art. I have requested materials used for mosaic creations, paper, drawing and painting varieties and mats for our proud students to use for their creations for display.

Some of our artists are newly-arrived immigrants who are new to the English language.

Despite our students' struggles to acclimate to a new country, they continually strive to do their best because they are committed to a common goal, to succeed. This year, we are focusing on "Art and Artists in the USA," focusing on the talents and artistry of this "melting pot"we call our new home. Our students will explore how influences from various countries have contributed to American Art.
