My Students
My students are very community minded and they want to make a difference in the lives of others.
My students are very excited to be learning and contributing to society. My students are interested in mentoring and teaching each other and are very excited to share their competency in knitting and crocheting.
The type of students involved in the Have a Hat Club are interested and committed to service learning and volunteering their time toward this excellent effort to provide hats for newborns.
My Project
For the Have-A-Hat organization, students need specific materials to use so that they can work and complete their projects. These materials include: yarn, knitting and sewing needles, and crochet hooks.
We, the students, are taught how to knit in order to create hats, which are donated to growing babies to provide comfort and warmth. This way, we are devoted to both the parents and the babies who are happy for being provided warm hats. Knitting is also a way to reduce the stress of the high school students and allows them to feel accomplished that they were able to help the community around them.
