Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a public elementary school in Houston. My classroom size is composed of twenty-four students. I teach at a Title One school where ninety percent of students are on free lunch. The majority of students in the neighborhood are economically challenged. This being said they deserve to have resources needed in order to receive an effective education. As students with limited resources at home, I would like to provide them with as much engaging and fun activities/materials in order to make learning inviting for them.
My Project
I am very excited for the upcoming Dr Seuss week beginning on March 2nd. The materials I am requesting for my students will help us celebrate Dr. Seuss Week. I have a fun-filled week planned with games and activities to get my first graders passionate about our all time favorite Dr. Seuss. I cant wait to celebrate this week with my students, but will need your help in acquiring these fun trinkets. These fun trinkets will encourage reading and be given daily as incentives and prizes. Each student will receive a pencil pouch at the beginning of the week and as the week progresses, they will collect items. I hope that with the in depth study and celebration, students continue to keep everyone's childhood books alive!
