Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things fun and engage my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that will encourage them to learn.
My students are ready to be engaged with hands-on STEM learning!
They are excited to explore the world around them and to learn about life! These items will help my school by providing resources all of the students need.
My Project
The materials that I'm asking for will have my students putting away their paper and pencils and heading to recess a little earlier (or they will think so). The egg incubator and eggs will make learning feel like recess and will have them coming back for more everyday. Students will be able to have hands-on learning experience with the live animals in return, they will be able to learn about the process of taking care animals and providing them with their basic needs.
Through this project, students will be learn that all animals need air, food, water, and shelter.
By providing a hands-on experiences, the students can learn about chickens and apply it to other living animals.
With these chickens, the students will witness the eggs hatching and see the life cycle of a chicken while investigating their basic needs.
(Common Core: S1L1. Students will investigate the characteristics and basic needs of plants and animals.)
