My Students
This is our school motto: Be strong. Be safe. Be a super owl! We are a family that believes in offering assistance to anyone in need. We are a very close-knit community, and everyone pitches in to help the students succeed. The kids are bright and energetic, and they give life to the school.
After recovering from Hurricane Harvey's floodwater, our kindergarteners had to return to more flood from a burst A/C pipe over Christmas break.
Our classroom was flooded, and our temporary classroom is part of the library! However, our school did what it does best. Everyone came together for the greater good of our staff and students.
Our students beat the odds every year and continually score higher on standardized testing than all other elementary schools in the district. The future teachers, doctors, engineers, artists, and entrepreneurs come to school eager and excited to learn new things. They learn in a healthy and loving environment every day.
These kids are some of the most loving children you will ever meet. They demonstrate daily what it means to be a super owl!
My Project
After Hurricane Harvey, it is a strain to ask parents for snacks since our neighborhood surrounding the school was affected by the flood.
This project will allow my students to have healthy snacks for the rest of the school year without having to burden the parents!
Having our own classroom refrigerator will help us keep our snacks fresh and our drinks cold for parties throughout the school year. Each year kindergarten has a Thanksgiving feast and ties it to the social studies curriculum. Our Valentine's Day and Christmas parties are also tied to our kindergarten curriculum.
We will use the graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows to celebrate writing our very own how-to story by creating s'mores.
