Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All students deserve to feel like champions when they enter the classroom each day. Sometimes, feeling like a champion can be as simple as having the school supplies they need-- a pencil on a day they forgot their backpack, for instance. Other times, feeling like a champion starts with personal hygiene practices, which often begin in the middle years of schooling. Every student deserves that moment of relief when they realize that they, too, can succeed during class.

This project aims to directly support students with necessary supplies (academic and personal) for students during this pivotal year of their development.

Our class periods are long-- more than 70 minutes! --so it is greatly important that students have comfortable lighting and plenty of materials to get through each day.

It is imperative that I continue offering my students school supplies at no cost to them-- every donation matters. Students need notebooks, pencils, and folders to be successful-- not just in my class but in all of their classes. Critically, our school serves many underserved populations of students-- students who are brilliant but need better access to resources. By keeping students' basic academic needs met, we can help them show up in more meaningful ways in the classroom and beyond.
