My students need Tide PODS Laundry Detergent, Master Lock Padlock, and Swiffers to have wash clothes and linens, clean floors, and also store the items away safely.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are in a Title I preschool and 100% of our students receive free lunch. Many of the the students have a parent in the military. The children must meet at-risk criteria to attend this program. The criteria includes family income, identified disabilities, parent employment, and English proficiency.
I provide a creative classroom environment with materials in the learning centers that are empowering students through art.
I also provide science, technology, engineering, and math activities. I believe this will prepare all my students to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
My Project
My students often don't have their basic needs met. Some don't have access to clean clothes and they miss school because of this problem. Also it is hard to keep the floors clean throughout the day, so if we had swiffers ready and available we could have a clean room even when our janitor is not there. These materials have to be kept away from the children, that is why I am asking for locks.
It has been said that 1 in 5 students have missed school due to the families not having access to this kind of equipment in the home, or cannot afford Laundromat services.
Also in the pre-K classroom, we have linens and supplies that have to be kept clean. With the Tide Pods, I would be able to keep my students clean and healthy. We will use the detergent for those times when our children come to school wearing clothes that are not clean and/or have been worn 2-3 days without washing.
