My Students

Many of my students are entering our school for the first time during these unsure trying times. I would like for all my students to feel as welcomed and comfortable as possible. One thing we are noticing as they were encouraged to use technology they are having difficulty with basic skills like writing their name, coloring, opening a marker, etc. I want to welcome them in a friendly and supportive environment where we can work on our hand strength and formation of letters and numbers. This program will help those returning students, as well as the new ones, adjust to our new normal a world with technology as well as pencil and paper. All students in my classroom are ESL learners as well as students with disabilities.

My students spend most of their day in a self-contained classroom, with the support of various teachers/providers, learning how to read, write, and complete math tasks, as well as becoming good citizens.

Together, we will work to make our classroom a true community environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed, important, and accepted.

My Project

After being home many students are only comfortable writing on a tablet with a single finger or typing one key at a time. Writing your name, a story, a note is a part of learning too, and a life skill. Many children have the ideas but can't put them on paper. I would like to use Handwriting without Tears to help my students learn the skills necessary for writing, establishing good habits and building stamina in a fun multi-sensory way. Developing good self esteem when learning is important as you need to believe that you can do anything to succeed, "YES I CAN"
