Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my students are always improving, learning, and creating connections between academics and the world around them.

This STEM cooking club for upper elementary students will give them meaningful opportunities to explore academic concepts through hands on experiences that build confidence, collaboration, and independence, skills they need to be successful in both school and life.

Through this club, students will use the air fryer and waffle maker to explore heat transfer, temperature changes, and chemical reactions as ingredients transform during cooking. These experiences help students see science concepts in action beyond the classroom. Measuring equipment such as cups, spoons, and thermometers will strengthen math and science skills as students practice precision, compare quantities, and record observations.

Aprons and safety supplies will help students develop responsibility and teamwork while maintaining a clean and organized learning space. Supplies for hot chocolate and drink experiments will allow students to investigate solubility, melting, density, and physical versus chemical changes in a fun and highly engaging way.

This STEM cooking club will help students connect classroom learning to real world experiences that equip them with practical life skills, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities. By turning the kitchen into a science lab, students will see that learning is relevant, applicable, and exciting, and that the skills they build here will support their future success both academically and personally.
