Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 2nd graders are bright, curious, and full of questions about how the world works. They love building, testing, and discovering — but hands‑on STEAM learning requires materials that aren’t always available in our classroom. With your help, my students will engage in at least three engineering challenges this year: building a Rock Separator Tool, designing an Elevated Flood‑Safe Structure, and creating a Prosthetic Hand that can lift objects.

These projects allow students to think like real engineers, use creativity, collaborate with classmates, and apply science in meaningful ways.

Your support will give them the tools they need to explore, invent, and succeed.

Each challenge aligns with Florida science standards and the Engineering Design Process, giving students authentic opportunities to plan, build, test, and redesign. In addition, it will allow students to work collaboratively to solve real-world problems, build confidence through trial and error, as well as experience the joy of creating something with their own hands.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
