Help me give my students SEL Books and hands on practice with SEL with Lego sets, as we learn more about our emotions and how to best regulate ourselves, we will meet with greater learning success.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love teaching in our small corner of Arizona. Our students are bright, curious, and joyful. I'd love to be able to introduce our young learners to naming and exploring their emotions. I believe that linking the SEL Knowledge and the hands on play and reading will be the right combination to rocket them to success in school and life.
Studies show that connecting SEL knowledge and core academics, students show more growth and success.
Students will have hands-on time with LEGO bricks to identify emotions that we are reading about in class. They can use the LEGO StoryTales to reenact different aspects of the story all while building the story title with the alphabet Lego's. This will give them a hands on connection to the SEL books we will be reading in class together and independently. My goal is that students can use these tools to help them navigate social situations, recreate and incident and talk about how to handle it differently. Having the LEGO bricks and the SEL books in our class gives my students a chance to gain depth of knowledge about their emotions and how to regulate. I'd love to be able to help these learn how to manage their emotions and help them on the path to success. With the disruption to their lives due to COVID-19, I want to make sure each student has a equitable path on their education journey.
