My Project

Have you ever been to a children's museum? It's all about learning through touching, play, and exploration. Kids LOVE it! They have fun WHILE learning! Then we have school... let's watch videos, read, and then answer questions on worksheets. Not as much fun. I want to make kits that students can just go explore during each science unit.

This year, I want to children's museumify, (a word I invented), my classroom!

In 4th grade, our units are about the human body, (structure and function of muscles, skeleton, eyes, and brains); Animal and Plant Adaptations; Earth's Features and Processes; Sound Waves and Communication; Energy and Energy Transfer; Electricity, Light and Heat.

Students who can touch the things about which they are learning are much more able to internalize and expand their thinking than if we just look at it in a video or read about it on paper. We need to do all of those things to process and learn it!
