A typical day in my classroom includes a lot of energy and hands-on learning. I like to use as many engaging activities as I can throughout each day to keep my students interested in our topics. "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn."
My students are the most amazing, resilient children I have ever had the pleasure of teaching.
While most of them have difficult home lives, they come in each day with a positive attitude ready to tackle the day's objectives. Our school was damaged by the March 25th tornado and we had to move buildings. I was worried that this would effect their ability to focus, but they have shown outrageous flexibility since the move. They continue to make me so proud each day, striving for the best.
My Project
Using the activities for centers will help my students in all areas of academics. They will get hands on practice with phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary in small groups while I am working with a group at my teacher center. Each center will provide activities that will last all year and allow my students work at their own pace and level. The materials will provide a fun learning experience conducive to success.
Donations to my project will improve students perceptions of reading work in centers.
Although they will still be working diligently every day at centers, they will be using hands-on materials that will keep them entertained! The mind builds better memories when it is happy!
