Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from varying backgrounds, but they all belong to my family the moment they step through my classroom door. Each day, they come to school excited about learning and new possibilities. They crave opportunities to gain new skills and demonstrate their learning in all content areas.
This year is the first and most important experience in their educational journeys.
This is where my students will learn to love learning. We are all up to the task of setting them up for immense growth and success!
My Project
Each day in my classroom, we have a time set aside where students rotate through independent educational centers. They participate in guided reading with me in one center and work completely on their own in the other centers. It is my job to keep students fully engaged while building their academic knowledge during this time. The activities I have requested from Lakeshore are an absolutely perfect way to ensure that.
Hands-on phonoligical activities will allow my students to be fully engaged in learning through play.
As students manipulate the phonics and phonemic awareness games that I have requested, they are able to gain the skills needed for early literacy. The Magnetic Word Building Boards and Phonics and Word Recognition Folder games will enrich students' understanding of reading and writing concepts as they recognize and manipulate vowel sounds, spelling patterns, and simple words. When their hands are on these materials, there is no doubt their minds are on too.
