This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Having real world opportunities readily available to our students daily is being pushed heavily in our school system. With that being said, I am noticing that more and more of our students are struggling with being able to have success in visualizing and solving complex problems because of the limited resources and access to materials.
The school that I am at is a Title I/Renaissance/POWER 3 school.
What we are talking about is having the highest level of poverty within our student population. This translates to students who have excessive baggage that they deal with every day that NO CHILD should ever have to worry about, and in spite of their personal difficulties, they come to school every single day EXCITED TO LEARN! I could go and teach anywhere, but there is nothing more satisfying than coming to my school every morning knowing that I will make a difference in my students' lives and they make a difference in my life as well. We are on a mission together and with your help, there isn't any obstacle we can't overcome.
My Project
Working in a Title 1/Renaissance school has many demographically specific challenges. The biggest is trying to come up with creative ways to show our students how important education is now and will continue to be throughout their entire lives. This is not an easy challenge to overcome without help.
Our students have so many daily life challenges, that education falls quite low on their ladder for survival and your generous donations will be exactly what they need to learn now and lead tomorrow.
Being able to offer a variety of hands-on activities that can be used interchangeably between math and science will help solidify the importance of what we teach. Our students will be able to internalize their learning and use their newly acquired skills when they leave school.
