Help me give my students hands on experience with math manipulatives. This will help them be successful at showing their math ideas and understanding of math concepts.
My students struggle with social skills. They have not had ample amounts of time to practice these skills in a school setting. They are also quick to give up when learning gets difficult. A growth mindset is a big part of our classroom environment.
My students also need concrete tools to express their math ideas.
They need to be able to put their hands on objects, not just touch a screen (iPad).
My Project
With students working remotely from home and using iPad screens often, they do not have concrete math foundations to help them apply math principles. Math manipulatives will help students cement these concepts and become solid in their math skills.
Students have also been adversely affected in their development of social skills.
They have not had the practice in this area due to isolation. Reading high-interest, colorful stories will help guide meaningful discussions on growth mindset and other social skills. This will provide a basis for growth mindset and grit as students continue their education.
