Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects. They come to school each day ready to learn new things!
Each child in my classroom loves to learn, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
Our school is located on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the students in our school are Hispanic and African American and come from low-income households.
My Project
My students love using hands-on learning to grasp new concepts. Hands-on learning allows students to engage in problem-solving and higher-level thinking skills that will help advance their long term education.
Learning to count, sort, and make patterns are important basic skills that students need to grasp higher-level concepts.
The counting cars will allow students to build their one-to-one correspondence skills. The linking number monkeys will allow students to arrange the numbers in chronological order. The math trays will allow students to graph, sort, make a pattern, count, and use a Venn diagram. The nuts about math set will also allow students to make patterns, sort, and count.
