Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I would love to bring more hands-on math materials to my students so they can enjoy learning about numbers and shapes. When math is engaging and entertaining, students connect with the materials and love learning about math. Math is a critical life-long skill and students need to have confidence to succeed in math for their entire educational careers.

Using the various materials will help my students develop their skills with early numeracy and spatial reasoning.

Starting in kindergarten is foundational to their success as life-long mathematicians. Students at my school are often Multilanguage learners; therefore, by providing hands-on materials and manipulatives, all students can be successful. Multilanguage learners can experience math and connect the concepts to their home languages, regardless of their confidence levels in English communication. While they are learning English, they can experience hands-on success with math. My goal for this project is to develop a love of mathematics for all students.
