I teach seventh grade math at Dutchtown Middle School in Geismar, Louisiana. I would like to purchase some hands on math manipulatives to enhance student learning with our probability unit. In the past, I have attempted to make my own manipulatives but their uses are limited they are made of paper so they tend to fall apart. I am asking for a Deluxe Probability Kit, overhead playing cards to introduce my probability unit, and double dice to do probability experiments. Each provides hands on manipulatives for my students to use in small groups which will allow me time to work closely with the students who may not understand the concept. My goal is to encourage learning by showing my students how math can be fun. The probability unit is always fun for the children but with more manipulatives I can challenge them in different ways. It is important for students to use manipulatives to provide them the confidence they need to achieve more than they think they can achieve.
