Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class in a fun place to be! I teach two groups of economically disadvantaged bilingual students. Despite their many challenges, my students are eager and enthusiastic about learning! Their positive attitude makes our classroom a positive place for them to work cooperatively and learn together!
My students are from a small community.
There are two elementary schools in our school district. All of my students are bilingual and economically disadvantaged. They do not have resources at home or access to computers. For these reasons, I use a variety of resources, teaching styles, and ideas in the classroom.
My students struggle with the language, so it is difficult for them to learn the content. By using a variety of resources, I am able to help them learn. The use of manipulative's will help my students develop conceptual understanding of the mathematical
ideas taught in class by re presenting the ideas in multiple ways.
My Project
With resources like Interactive Math Labs, my students will be able to "see" and grasp abstract concepts which are challenging for them. The manipulative's included in the kits will enhance their comprehension skills when learning new concepts. manipulative's will provide my students greater access to language and mathematical terminology. The geometry sets will allow them to recognize shapes. The self-checking cards will allow my students to work independently or with a partner and will give them immediate feedback. This will let them take ownership of their own learning. My students will be able to work collaboratively. The interactive labs will also provide more meaningful and engaging ways to learn concepts.
These resources will definitely impact and make a huge difference in the lives of my students.
My students want to learn. Despite their many shortages, they are motivated and want to be successful. These resources will be key in providing effective, active, engaging lessons when teaching mathematics. Help me provide enrichment through personalized, increasingly complex activities.
