Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am working as a reading and math interventionist this year. My students are eager to learn and strive to become better readers and mathematicians everyday.
Many of my students are from bilingual households and share their culture with us every day in the classroom.
All my students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their socioeconomic status.
My students' needs are very diverse and I would like to reach them in any way possible. I believe that giving them an organized welcoming space and appropriate curriculum will increase their reading and math skills.
Research shows that whether you are low-income or not, mindset is a bigger predictor of success than academic skills, and how students gain great academic skills and persevere in the face of challenges.
My Project
When teaching reading I will be able to make letters for each child to use daily. They will be able to use the letters to learn their letter names and sounds. I will also use the cricut to make my word wall for the students and label their reading materials.
My students will be able to increase their math and reading skills.
When teaching math I will give children numbers and use the cricut to put together different math games for the kids. I will also use it to organize manipulatives and complete the math word wall.
