My Students

I have 24 lovely students in my class this year. They work hard every day learning to be self efficient and goal oriented students.

This group of 2nd grader has been hugely effected by COVID.

We will spend a large part of our day focusing on reading to get them where they need to be.

My Project

Covid has had a large impact on these 2nd graders of mine. School was shut down for them in kindergarten and first grade was rough. Teachers were not doing small group instructions and these kids suffered because of it. We are now trying to make up for lost time. I try my best to use hands-on, engaging materials for students. These items include math manipulative to use and integrate in math lessons to give them engaging time to practice their facts. I have a lot of reading supplies requested for small group instruction. Every day I meet with my students in small groups. These materials will allow me to differentiate my instruction to accommodate their specific needs. They are also engaging materials that keep the students involved and active in their learning. A lot of students are struggling with their confidence to succeed. I have so many students leaning to other students for answers. I have also included individual partitions to use when needed to make sure students are doing the work themselves. I don't know how to best help them, if I'm not seeing their own abilities and what level they are personally functioning at. My goal is for all students to leave my class being self motivated learners, strong readers, and developmentally at grade level with their math facts. These products will all help me achieve this outcome. These supplies will help me keep students motivated and engaged during instruction and allow them to obtain the necessary skill and information they need to have success in 2nd grade.
