My Project

I teach in Chicago Public Schools. I teach almost 100 7th and 8th grade students. My students are creative, insightful, and excited to learn. Many of them are multilingual and have immigrated to the United States from all over the world. An essential part of our school culture is that students organize and prepare a variety of presentations for cultural celebrations. In order to do this successfully, they need supplies such as markers, colored pencils, poster board, and tape.

Middle school students need a variety of tools and supports in order to be their best selves in the classroom.

These include tools for self-regulation, such as fidgets. In addition, to make learning engaging and hands-on, I like to have a variety of tools in the classroom that students can use to customize their learning and show their mastery in many ways. These tools include Play-Doh for modeling historical events and whiteboards for nonverbally sharing their ideas with me and their peers.
