Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher in a public school for students with autism. My students participate in the Alternate Curriculum and learn best through hands-on learning. My students benefit from hands-on learning and often the curriculum needs to be modified in order to meet their needs and access the curriculum. My students are always looking forward to hands-on experiences and learning. My students are always eager to learn and enjoy using an array of materials to meet their unique needs.

My school is a Title I school where all students are receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

My goal for this project is to provide my students access to various learning resources and high-interest hands-on experiences.

Help me give my students Magnetic color maze, magnetic counting maze, learning to count puzzles, Shake and Soothe sensory tubes, tempera painters and create and play magnetic monsters to increase student learning and engagement. With these materials my students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning. The materials will promote more independence and practice. My students will be using the color maze to learn and recognize different colors. My students will be using the magnetic counting maze and counting puzzles to learn number recognition and counting. These materials will allow my students to engage in their own learning and become active participants. My students will use the Shake and Soothe Sensory tubes, tempera painters and magnetic monsters during break time as a reward for completing their work.
