My Project

My students love to learn. They are active learners, who also love to read and write. Each student is unique as well as their learning style. Many students will learn with a traditional approach to literacy, but we have found that students are often attracted to hands-on materials; research proves we learn through play, even if it is structured play, such as literacy stations.

These materials such as boogie boards, letter blocks, word puzzles, and much more will help to enhance their learning by providing a hands-on approach.

They are also differentiated for the various skills. As students are paired with partners during our literacy workshops, they can independently review skills and strategies using the following items. For instance, the boogie boards can be used to practice writing sight words and many of these items provide the opportunity for students to make words using different types of materials and even construct sentences with a puzzle. My students need different materials to keep them interested and engaged. The items provide students with the chance to complete a task successfully and independently.
