My Students

My students are bright, energetic, and eager scholars who are ready to learn. My students are from an urban setting in Wisconsin. Over 60% of the students at my school come from economically disadvantaged households as determined by the state. For many, poverty has a profound impact on their lives but it should not hold them back from success. Their success in school is very important to me. Through DonorsChoose, the scholars that I work with will have what they need to be successful.

My Project

My students need support with reading. While I am working with small groups on specific skills to help them become better readers, I need students to be engaged in meaningful and fun activities that will help accelerate their learning. These hands on learning materials will allow them to be engaged and learning even when they are not meeting directly with me. I want all students to become successful readers. Reading is an essential skill that many of my students are struggling with and I want them to become more independent.
