Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow." ~John Dewey. I teach PLC for kindergarten and 1st grade which is a classroom for students with a range of disabilities. I also work closely with my other special education teachers. I have 12 students in my classroom who range in their abilities in the areas of math, reading, and writing.
It is my passion to help my students reach their goals and be successful in school.
Any extra help I, as the teacher, can give them in the classroom is crucial to having them succeed, not only in my classroom, but in their entire school career.
My students stay with me for two years and then they will move on to 2nd grade. My students are wonderful kids who love to learn, and just do it differently. Albert Einstein once said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” I want to empower my students and show them how smart they are!
My Project
My students do not have the materials they need to be successful learning at school. My students need fun and engaging Math and ELA centers. These materials will give them the opportunity to manipulate words, numbers and math problems to get the answer. My students are very hands-on learners and it can be challenging at times when they do not have manipulatives in front of them. I want to create a classroom that fosters learning, and with these materials I know it will happen!
By helping my classroom you will ensure my students have a chance to learn and grow during this difficult time.
The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs will help my students engage in our ELA centers because it will give them visuals for each letter. The Early Math Folder Game Libraries will give my students different engaging math centers for them to work on a their level. The Reading Skills Folder Game Libraries will give my students different and engaging ELA centers for them to work on during or ELA center choice. All of these materials will help my students increase their ELA and math abilities in my classroom. Having fun and engaging lessons will help them want to learn and be engaged in the lessons!
