Help me give my students the materials that would help them learn better because all of these items would make it easier for them to learn new concepts and ideas.

My Students

I teach a K-1 self-contained special education class primarily geared towards kids on the autism spectrum. We have been working hard on social skills, learning academics, and learning how to follow a classroom routine. My students have grown so much throughout this school year and last school year and have been adapting to working with masks on during the day. I am so proud of their ability to learn in a whole new way, and want to help my students do their best!

We strive to make learning as fun as possible for our students so that they can stay engaged throughout the lesson or activity that we are working on.

Our students learn best through hands-on activities, explicit instruction, and small group settings. We have many different types of resources in our classroom to use in our small groups, but we are always looking for fun new ways to teach and learn.

My Project

We are requesting fun manipulative items; real-life learning tools, such as tools to learn how to button, zip, and snap; as well as basic classroom supplies, such as markers, velcro and laminating sheets for making new materials. For things like math and fine motor skills, having extra practice with fun materials can make all the difference in the level of engagement student's have, and therefore, on their ability to learn new skills!

Hands-on learning is a BIG piece of how my students learn in my classroom, but in order to be able to use more hands-on learning, we need more materials!

We have some of the basics, but the things we are requesting from this project would take it to a whole new level!
