Help me give my students hands-on materials for learning and exploring early literacy and numeracy concepts. Students will explore letters with the Alphabet Soup Sorters and addition/subtraction with the ten frames.
My students are 1st and 2nd graders who are inquisitive, engaged, and fun-loving. We have a variety of levels in our special education classroom, so it is important that my students have access to diverse, high quality materials.
My student learn best through engaging in play and age-appropriate texts.
First and second grade is such an exciting time as students become more independent and start reading on their own. Students are learning to problem solve and work together to meet classroom goals. Thank you for your support!
My Project
In our classroom, we use centers for students to explore early literacy and numeracy concepts at their individual levels. Materials like the Alligator ABC matching game and the Alphabet Soup Starters allow students to explore letters and their sounds in an engaging and tactile way. Likewise, tools such as gear clocks, base 10 units, and ten frames promote math concepts such as counting, telling time, place value, addition and subtraction.
When students are engaged in learning using age-appropriate materials and play, they are able to make more connections, sustain attention longer, and work more independently.
