Help me give my students daily hands-on learning opportunities. This project will allow me to provide my students with the opportunity to learn by having fun and being engaged.
My students are in preschool with Autism. I teach in a Title I school, which means there is a high number of economically disadvantaged children. Even though my students have many obstacles they try very hard to do their best. Many of my students are not able to communicate verbally, causing them to get frustrated and exhibit negative behaviors. With theses materials my students can have more appropriate are for group learning and this project will have an impact on their everyday learning by increasing their engagement.
My Project
These items will enable me to provide hands-on experiences to for a student center learning environment in my classroom, which is self-directed and creative. These items will allow me to create a relaxed and fun way to teach my students. By providing an innovative and engaging environment, my preschool students will gain confidence and increase their motivation to engage in learning. The technology which is a part of the carpet and the hands-on learning items will enable me to adapt my teaching methods to meet the learning styles of all students. My goal is to increase educational output, but decrease resistive behaviors for learning and ultimately have a positive effect on self-esteem and behaviors. Augmentative reality used the Rugs Alive, has a specific type of assistive technology that can benefit students with autism prompting independence, expanding communication, and increasing social interactions.
