The students in my classroom work hard every day to meet my high expectations. Being in a high poverty school district does not define who we are as people. These students know the power of "yet" and "keep trying." They set ambitious goals for themselves and understand the importance of perseverance.
This group of students has shown willingness and eagerness to learn, kindness and patients towards each other, and extreme amounts of awesomeness that will ultimately lead to a year of greatness!
Along with their academic goals, we are working on real-life skills involving the community, building relationships, practicing communication, and showing gratitude. I feel lucky to share each and every day with these intelligent individuals!
My Project
My students love using dry erase markers. These dry-erase pockets will serve as hands-on learning for any subject. I can print an activity to place in the pocket, and students can use dry erase markers to continuously practice a skill without wasting paper!
These materials will help engage my students in their learning!
As for the dry-erase marker, I am constantly being asked "can I use a tissue" whenever we have dry-erase activities during the day. By the end of the year or by"cold and flu season," I am needing to purchase more tissues they can actually use on their noses. These erasers will put a stop to a handful of issues!
We hit place value hard in 2nd grade. I like this item because the straws are an awesome representation of a number. It is also a hands-on learning tool that my students can use to better understand place value.
Last but not least, I am looking to purchase these colorful, circular sitting mats that will serve as a flexible seating option for my students during small group times. Small group activities are exciting for my students, and it's amazing how even the seating options can boost their enthusiasm during this time!
