My Students

This is my first year teaching 1st grade! I have taught in 2nd, 5th, and 3rd grade before this!

I teach at a low socioeconomic school.

The past two years our system has provided all school supplies for students. All students at school receive free breakfast and free lunch.

First grade is a big year for learning to form letters and numbers correctly, learning to read, simple addition and subtraction and developing better fine motor skills.

My Project

Students will be able to use these pop its during Language Arts and Math! They will be used in Language Arts to help blend and segment words! They will also help with letter recognition and learning individual letter sounds. In math, they will help with learning to count to 100 and with simple addition and subtraction! Students will also be able to challenge other classmates with math problems!

The students love to fidget and this will allow them to 'play' while they are learning something meaningful!

My project is to have some 'extra' fun ways to help students by using hands on learning tools! These hands on learning tools will help my students learn simple addition and subtraction skills and will allow them to challenge their classmates while having fun and learning! These hands on learning tools will also be used not only in math but also in English Language Arts! I will allow students to use the tools during spelling centers to practice spelling. They will use them to break words in to individual phonemes and segments, and to blend the words back together!
