Help me give my students more hands-on work tasks by helping us get the materials we need to make them including ink, laminating sheets, paper, and more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are exceptional in their own individual way. Most of them being on the Autism spectrum, my students learn in a self-contained classroom with a small setting that helps fulfills their education in more ways than just academics. My students learn functional life skills as well as grow as individuals. My students also learn in a variety of ways, on all different levels and they all need different supports to help them actively and appropriately participate in class throughout the day.
My Project
With a limit on black and white copies and no access to color copies at all unless we use our own printer. I have to find other ways to create materials needed for my class. I have my own printer that was purchased previously but to keep up with the ink, paper, laminating sheets, and Velcro that goes along with the work tasks is where I need help. The materials that include ink cartridges, paper, laminating sheets, and Velcro dots are all necessary to create work tasks that allow my students to be more hands on. These materials will allow me to create new hands on work tasks that are related to my students IEP goals and the curriculum standards. These work tasks cover every subject including math, science, social studies, reading/language ares, and even life skills.
A hands on approach has shown to be more effective for the students in my classroom.
They are more likely to grasp a concept when using work tasks rather than doing worksheets. These work tasks give them an easier way to fix mistakes and allows them to easily change their answers without having to feel like they are making their work messy. The work tasks that will be created allow more freedom to grow and learn without feeling self-conscious about getting the wrong answer.
