Hands On Learning! Osmo & Tiggly!

My Students

Our students are digital natives. They learn best through technology and interactive learning experiences. Technology keeps them engaged & excited about learning. Some of our students only have access to technology at school. Our school motto is "whatever it takes" to ensure all students succeed.

Our K - 4 school is of the highest poverty level.

Many of our students lack basic background knowledge coming into school. A number of our students come from Spanish speaking homes which can sometimes create a disconnect in their education between home and school. Teachers work tirelessly to bridge the gap & provide equitable learning experiences for all students. These interactive tools would facilitate high engagement learning experiences.

My Project

These resources will be shared amongst 5 grade levels, K-4. Teachers will be shown how to integrate them into their curriculum as independent learning stations. Tiggly comes in three different kits; shapes, letters and numbers. The shapes set will help Kindergartners and EC students to learn & recognize their shapes. The letters will help them learn their alphabet, vowels and site words. The numbers will help them to recognize their numbers and develop a numbersense & a basic foundation for Math. Osmo has 5 different apps, Tangram, Masterpiece, Newton, Words & Numbers. All of our grade levels will touch on Geometric concepts at some point in the year, Tangrams will be ideal for shape identification & building larger shapes. Masterpiece fosters creativity & precision in their drawing skills. Newton will challenge them using their fine motor skills. Words will be perfect for working with words and learning vocabulary. Numbers will be perfect for developing numbersense.

These OSMO and Tiggly projects will get students excited and motivated about learning.

Students will learn and practice foundational Reading and Math skills to make them successful as they progress through their learning experience for the grade ahead. Students can practice these independently.
