My students need literacy manipulatives, Lakeshore Word Building Blocks and Classroom Magnetic Letters Kit, for independent and small group success in first grade.
My students are very helpful to one another. They enjoy working in small literacy stations throughout our day. Our students struggle with some literacy components and these new hands-on tools can help them be more successful with in our classroom. We have 24 first grade students that are eager!
We have a classroom of 24 first grade students.
We are in a co-taught classroom. Our students complete daily activities in whole group, small group, and individual time using Daily 5. Our students are active within the classroom, as we incorporate technology and hands-on manipulative as much as we can to gain student interest and student success. We enjoy our students becoming the experts, in that they share their learning experiences with one another.
My Project
Our students will use the new literacy materials, Lakeshore Word Building Blocks and Classroom Magnetic Letters Kit, within our literacy stations and small group interactions. Students will be taught how to use the manipulatives with their teachers and fellow students, and then be expected to work together to create successful learning in literacy stations. Students are grouped within 4 to 5 first graders. Students will learn how to visually and orally breakdown parts of words and sounds using these materials for success in the classroom.
These materials will help our first grade students learn importance of sound and letter relationships in creating words and parts.
Students will enjoy this hands-on experience in learning. The materials can be used for an individual student or for a small group of students on a daily basis. Materials can also be shared with other classrooms when we are in different parts of our day and are unable to use these materials.
