Because of your kindness, my kindergartners now have a joyful, hands-on way to learn about kindness, responsibility, and community.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the excitement in our classroom was through the roof! The students' eyes lit up as we unpacked the desk toppers, pom-poms, and tiny animal accessories. One of my students exclaimed, \"This is the best day ever!\"—and truly, it felt like magic had come to our room.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the desk toppers as part of our new \"Bucket Filler\" system, where students earn pom-poms for showing kindness, helping friends, and making positive choices. On \"Fun Fridays,\" they get to trade in their pom-poms for adorable animals and accessories for their desk toppers. It's amazing to watch them proudly display their collections and cheer each other on.\r\n\r\nThis system has not only motivated my students to do their best, but it's also strengthened our classroom community. They're learning empathy, teamwork, and the joy of celebrating each other's successes—important social-emotional skills that will carry them far beyond kindergarten.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building on this positive foundation. As the year goes on, we'll introduce new themes and challenges to keep students engaged and help them connect their actions to the values of respect and kindness.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping make our classroom a brighter, happier, and more nurturing space. Your generosity has truly made a difference—and my students and I are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1753384512437,"projectUrl":"project/topper-time/9440549/","projectTitle":"Topper Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hermens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6172623_orig.png?crop=297,297,x0,y7&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1631417631914","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6172623"},{"teacherId":3853780,"projectId":9534643,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your donations to my classroom for our Tonies box and all of the Tonies! My students love being able to use the Tonie box with complete independence during center time. They have been able to listen to many different books since we were gifted SO MANY Tonies, THANKS TO YOU! After recieving the donations, I found out that you can buy a blank Tonies called a Creative Tonies. On a Creative Tonies, I can record myself reading any book and my students can hear my voice. This works great and the kids love it! It allows me to record a book that goes along with a theme if one of our Tonies does not. All of the Tonies I was gifted matches our existing themes, there is just not a Tonie for every theme we do. So this allows me to fill those gaps and it is so user friendly and easy to do!!!\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to learn how a Tonies box works. Their eyes light up with a magic sparkle when they realize the book or songs play just by setting the Tonies on top of the Tonie Box. Our students love to \"get away\" under our loft for a little quiet time and the headphones that hook into the Tonies box allow just that. A nice, quiet and calm few moments to get lost in a good book-is every teacher's dream for her students. Giving them a love for books is the best gift you can give them.\r\n\r\nMy future plans are to record more books onto our creative Tonies and see if I can record some students reciting some poems or songs to have accessible for our students to freely listen to at center time. I think they will love hearing their own voices!!!","fullyFundedDate":1754592356094,"projectUrl":"project/tonies-box-listening-center-for-pre-k-e/9534643/","projectTitle":"Tonies Box listening center for Pre-K, educational and fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3853780_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754338417547","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3853780"},{"teacherId":10173185,"projectId":9583517,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been transformed! The resources you provided are already being used daily to meet my students' academic, sensory, and social-emotional needs.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful moments was the day the items arrived. My students' eyes lit up as they helped unpack the boxes—several of them immediately gravitated to the sensory tools, trying them out with big smiles. One student who often struggles to stay calm during transitions now uses one of the sensory tools to self-regulate, and we've already seen fewer meltdowns and a smoother return to learning.\r\n\r\nAcademically, the new manipulatives and games have made small-group work so much more engaging. Just this week, during a math lesson, my students used the new hands-on materials to practice counting and problem-solving. Their excitement was contagious—they were eager to participate and proud of their success.\r\n\r\nSocially and emotionally, these tools are helping students feel safe and confident. They're learning that when they feel overwhelmed, they now have resources to help them reset and rejoin their peers.\r\n\r\nOur next steps will be to continue weaving these resources into daily routines and lessons. Whether it's reading, math, or social-emotional learning, these tools are helping my students make progress toward their IEP goals and beyond.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in my students. Your support has created a ripple effect that will continue to grow throughout the school year.","fullyFundedDate":1755713539954,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calming-engaging-space-for-s/9583517/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calming, Engaging Space for Special Education Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10173185_orig.jpg?crop=100,100,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755052760376","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10173185"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27478","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":369,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 1","studentTeacherRatio":"16.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":82.1,"schoolId":27478,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jerseyville West Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jerseyville West Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/jersey-community-school-district-100/jerseyville-west-elementary-school/27478"}
